Burkburnett Independent School District Data Breach Details
The breach was first detected on October 26, 2024, when the District’s endpoint detection and response tool flagged suspicious activity within its network. Following security protocols, the District isolated affected systems and launched an investigation to assess the scope of the breach. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor had accessed certain District systems between October 20 and October 26, 2024, during which time they acquired specific files stored on the network.
A thorough review of these files was conducted, concluding on November 15, 2024, to determine the nature of the compromised information and the individuals affected.
Additionally, Burkburnett ISD is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Experian to affected individuals.
