Charleston Area Medical Center Data Breach Details
On October 2, 2024, CAMC identified a phishing attack targeting a small number of email users. The organization immediately launched an investigation with the help of a forensic security firm and took swift action to terminate any unauthorized access. It was determined that an unauthorized party accessed a single CAMC email account between October 2 and October 3, 2024. No other CAMC systems or data storage were affected.
To further safeguard affected individuals, CAMC is offering identity protection services through IDX. The package includes 24 months of credit and CyberScan monitoring, a $1 million insurance reimbursement policy, and fully managed identity theft recovery services.
