Covaris Data Breach

In February 2024, Covaris, LLC (“Covaris”) detected unusual activity within its computer system. Upon identifying the issue, Covaris immediately launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the event. The investigation revealed that on February 26, 2024, an unauthorized actor accessed Covaris’ computer system. Covaris then performed a thorough review to identify what information the actor may have viewed. The company recently completed the review, confirming the scope of the impact. It is important to note that there is no indication that the unauthorized actor accessed the systems of Covaris’ parent company, PerkinElmer U.S. LLC.

What Information Was Involved?

The investigation determined that the unauthorized actor accessed a dataset that contained first and last names in combination with identifiers such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, dates of birth, financial account information, health information, and usernames and passwords for a limited group of identified individuals.
