In July 2024, Nationwide Recovery Services (NRS), a third-party vendor of Franklin Dermatology, detected suspicious activity within its network. NRS reported the incident to Franklin Dermatology on February 7, 2025, after concluding that unauthorized access occurred between July 5, 2024, and July 11, 2024. The breach affected certain files and folders on NRS’ network, and some of these files were copied by the unknown actor.
It’s important to note that Franklin Dermatology’s own systems were not compromised in this incident. However, the data stored by NRS may have been affected, including sensitive personal information belonging to Franklin Dermatology patients and guarantors. NRS initially promised to notify the affected individuals but failed to do so until April 3, 2025, when they eventually broke that promise.
As part of the response, Franklin Dermatology is reviewing additional security measures for its network and strengthening its contracts with third-party vendors to prevent future breaches. The company is also offering affected individuals credit monitoring and fraud protection services.
