Data Breach Summary
On November 2, 2023, Infosys McCamish Systems (IMS) discovered a ransomware attack that encrypted certain systems and exposed sensitive personal information. The unauthorized activity occurred between October 29, 2023, and November 2, 2023. IMS immediately initiated an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity experts, and notified law enforcement to aid in their response.
Further investigation revealed that the breach affected data provided to IMS by Farmers New World Life Insurance Company (“Farmers Insurance”), impacting sensitive information related to life insurance policies and annuities. On November 15, 2024, IMS filed a notice with the Attorney General of Maine, detailing the breach’s scope and confirming the unauthorized party’s access to personal data.
