On October 29, 2024, BackChecked informed Americhek—a client utilizing its services—of the breach. Americhek immediately launched its own investigation to assess the extent of the incident.
By November 21, 2024, Americhek confirmed that certain personal information provided by applicants may have been impacted. The breach affected a total of 7,664 individuals, including seven residents of Maine.
