Americhek Data Breach

On September 26, 2024, BackChecked, a digital services provider, identified unauthorized access to its systems, which potentially compromised sensitive personal information. Following a thorough investigation, BackChecked determined that an unauthorized actor had accessed its systems and obtained certain data. On October 29, 2024, BackChecked informed Americhek—a client utilizing its services—of the breach. Americhek immediately launched its own investigation to assess the extent of the incident.

By November 21, 2024, Americhek confirmed that certain personal information provided by applicants may have been impacted.  The breach affected a total of 7,664 individuals, including seven residents of Maine.

What Information Was Involved?

The compromised information varies by individual but may include the following:

• Names
• Dates of birth
• Driver’s license numbers
• Social Security numbers
