Data Breach Summary
Datavant has disclosed a data breach affecting 10,639 individuals, including 12 residents of Maine. Upon identifying the incident on May 9, 2024, Datavant promptly resolved the phishing attack and engaged a forensic security provider to investigate. The investigation concluded on August 8, 2024, revealing that an unauthorized individual accessed data from a single user’s mailbox. Between May and August, Datavant analyzed the scope of the incident and reviewed affected documents to identify impacted individuals. From August to October, the company worked to associate these individuals with their respective data controllers to ensure proper notification.
Impacted individuals are being offered 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Kroll. Notification letters began distribution on December 6, 2024, and Datavant has also issued public notices via its website and national media outlets.
