Georgia Urology Data Breach Details
On or about October 25, 2024, Georgia Urology identified unusual activity within two employee email accounts. This prompted an immediate investigation, which led to the discovery that certain emails and attachments from the practice may have been accessed or acquired without authorization. In response, Georgia Urology engaged a Cyber Incident Response Team to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the breach.
After thorough investigation, the practice confirmed that the data breach involved personal and protected health information belonging to 12,398 individuals. The breach was initially identified in October, and the organization worked diligently to identify those affected. The review process was completed on March 5, 2025, after which the practice took action to notify impacted individuals and provide resources for protection.
