Kaiser Foundation Hospitals Data Breach

Kaiser Permanente recently disclosed a data breach involving unauthorized access to email accounts of two employees, which may have exposed sensitive patient information. The breach, which occurred on August 2, 2024, was detected on September 3, 2024. Kaiser Permanente quickly terminated the unauthorized access and initiated an investigation to determine the extent of the exposure.

The information potentially accessed includes patients’ first and last names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, and certain medical details. Importantly, no Social Security numbers or financial information, such as credit card details, were involved in this incident. Kaiser Permanente has apologized for the breach, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining patient trust and enhancing data security.
