On June 13, 2024, KYL detected suspicious activity on its network and immediately secured its systems. A forensic investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed the network between June 7 and June 13, 2024, and acquired certain sensitive data. Following a thorough review, KYL confirmed on October 28, 2024, that personal information belonging to certain individuals was affected.

Additionally, on November 27, 2024, KYL issued written notifications to the 560 affected Maine residents. Substitute notices were also published on KYL’s website and in major media outlets across all 50 states to ensure broader awareness.
