On May 12, 2024, Kulicke and Soffa Industries (K&S) was contacted by a group identifying itself as “LockBit Black,” claiming to have accessed and encrypted specific company files. K&S promptly engaged a third-party forensic team to investigate the root cause of the incident and assess the potential access or exfiltration of data. Simultaneously, K&S worked with a cyber-negotiator to confirm the extent of the data breach.
By July 12, 2024, forensic experts indicated the possibility of data exfiltration. A comprehensive investigation, involving the review of restored files and affected directories, confirmed on October 22, 2024, that certain personal information might have been compromised. However, as of this notification, K&S has found no evidence that the information has been misused.
