Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital Data Breach Details
The ransomware attack began between April 2, 2024, and April 3, 2024, when Frederick Health’s IT systems were compromised.
Upon discovering the data incident, Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital immediately took action to secure its systems. The hospital launched a thorough investigation and engaged a national cybersecurity firm to assess the scope of the incident. Law enforcement authorities were also notified as part of the response.
While the hospital has no evidence that personal information has been or will be misused, they have taken a conservative approach in notifying all individuals whose personally identifiable information (PII) and/or protected health information (PHI) were maintained in their systems at the time of the incident.

The information exposed in the breach may vary by individual, but it could include the following:

- Address
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Health information
