In October 2024, Rockport Mortgage Corporation uncovered a data breach involving unauthorized access to company systems containing sensitive information about customers and employees. The breach, which occurred on October 4, 2024, was identified on October 15, 2024. Rockport promptly engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident and reported the breach to law enforcement.
To ensure transparency, written notifications were sent to 1,029 affected individuals, including 44 Maine residents, on November 15, 2024. Rockport also complied with legal requirements by notifying consumer reporting agencies. Impacted individuals are strongly encouraged to enroll in the identity protection services provided and to monitor their financial accounts for any unusual activity.
As part of its response, Rockport is offering all affected individuals a complimentary 24-month membership to Experian’s Identity WorksSM. This service provides comprehensive identity theft detection and resolution tools to help protect against potential misuse of personal information.
