How Do Data Breaches Happen?

Video Transcript

The most common type of data breaches happen because of negligence: employees who don’t change their passwords and allow others to get access to those passwords, software that leaves a vulnerability, giving hackers an access point, and disgruntled employees who might give passwords to others that shouldn’t have them. Another common way is that hackers are writing code to intentionally breach computer networks, and so it’s often difficult to prevent. A lot of times, the employees and companies are negligent because they’re failing to comply with their own company’s internal policies and procedures as they relate to safeguarding their computer networks, using dual-factor authentication, changing passwords, and things of that nature.
