SeatGeek Historic Lawsuits

Here’s a breakdown of some of the most notable lawsuits and legal controversies involving the company.

SeatGeek, a popular online ticketing platform, has found itself entangled in several high-profile lawsuits over the past few years. These lawsuits primarily involve allegations of overcharging, misleading pricing practices, and privacy violations. From ticket resale fee disputes to hidden charges and privacy concerns, SeatGeek has faced multiple legal challenges across the U.S. and internationally.

Historic Lawsuits Against SeatGeek

Florida Ticket Resale Law Lawsuit

In October 2025, SeatGeek was named in a class action lawsuit filed by Max Weinstein on behalf of Florida ticket buyers. The lawsuit alleges that SeatGeek violated Florida’s ticket resale laws by charging excessive fees on resale tickets for multi-day events. Under Florida law, resale tickets for such events are only allowed to exceed the original price by a maximum of $1.

The lawsuit points to specific examples, including the resale of a $309 ticket for a multi-day festival being sold for $466, along with additional fees that made the ticket even more expensive. This practice is in direct violation of the legal limit, and the plaintiffs are seeking justice for consumers who were overcharged due to these alleged unlawful resale fees.

California Privacy Lawsuit

In addition to pricing controversies, SeatGeek has also faced privacy-related lawsuits. In 2025, a class action lawsuit was filed in California by Jose Torres on behalf of users whose personal data was allegedly shared without consent. The lawsuit accuses SeatGeek of violating California’s Trap and Trace Law by using tracking pixels to collect and transmit user data, such as phone numbers and email addresses, to third parties including Meta (formerly Facebook) and TikTok.

The plaintiffs claim that SeatGeek and its partners used this data to de-anonymize users and target them with advertisements without obtaining proper consent. This case highlights growing concerns about data privacy in the digital age and raises important questions about how companies collect and use personal information without clear user consent.

Ongoing Legal Scrutiny for SeatGeek

SeatGeek’s history of legal disputes underscores the challenges faced by online ticketing platforms as they navigate pricing transparency, consumer protection, and privacy concerns. Whether it’s misleading pricing practices, overcharging for resale tickets, or unauthorized data collection, SeatGeek has faced scrutiny from both regulators and consumers.
