Boone Health has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging the healthcare network shared confidential patient details with third-party tech companies through embedded tracking tools in its online portal.
If you used the Boone Health online patient portal between April 2021 and December 2022, you may be eligible to receive a $20 cash payment along with access to complimentary digital privacy services.
The settlement impacts over 22,000 healthcare patients across Missouri. Affected individuals must submit a claim before the court-ordered deadline on November 9, 2026, to receive compensation.
Boone Health operates a major regional health network anchored by the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Like many modern healthcare providers, the network offers patients an online portal (BoonePortal.Meditech.Cloud) to manage appointments, review medical records, and communicate with healthcare professionals.
According to the class action lawsuit, Doe et al. v. Boone Health, Inc. et al., the health system secretly embedded third-party tracking pixels—such as Meta Pixel and Google Analytics—directly into its patient portal website.
Plaintiffs argued that these tracking codes recorded sensitive user interactions and transmitted personal health data to major tech companies without patient knowledge or consent. When people logged into their private accounts to manage their personal care, their digital breadcrumbs were allegedly funneled into commercial advertising and analytics networks.

Boone Health has denied all allegations of illegal conduct or liability. However, to avoid the delay and expense of a lengthy legal trial, the healthcare network agreed to a class action settlement, which received preliminary court approval on September 3, 2026.
The settlement agreement provides two primary forms of relief for impacted portal users:
$20 Cash Payment: Every qualifying class member who submits a valid and timely claim form will receive a cash payout of $20.

In addition to financial compensation, Boone Health has legally agreed to cease using the Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, or similar third-party web tracking tools within its patient portal for at least three years following final court approval.

You logged into the Boone Health patient portal (BoonePortal.Meditech.Cloud) at any time between April 1, 2021, and December 5, 2022.
Court filings show that the settlement covers approximately 22,197 Boone Health patients who used the portal during this 20-month window.
If you received a notice in the mail or via email regarding the Boone Health patient portal settlement, you must take active steps to claim your cash benefit.
Claim Filing Deadline: November 9, 2026. You must complete and submit your claim form online or postmark a physical paper claim form by this date.
Final Approval Hearing: December 2, 2026. The court will hold a hearing to review the terms and decide whether to grant final approval to the settlement agreement.
