Moodswings Settlement Resolves Class Action Lawsuit Over Allegedly Undisclosed Ticketing Service Fees

Production company Moodswings, LLC has reached a class action settlement to resolve allegations that it failed to clearly disclose online service charges when selling tickets for popular 360-degree dome shows like Mesmerica and Beautifica.

If you bought online tickets to immersive dome shows like Mesmerica or Beautifica, Moodswings, LLC has agreed to a class action settlement resolving allegations that it hid online service charges during checkout. Affected ticket buyers can claim cash refunds of up to $7.12 per ticket before the September 18, 2026 claim deadline.

What Is the Moodswings Ticketing Fees Class Action Lawsuit About?

The class action lawsuit, Oliva et al. v. Moodswings, LLC, filed on December 31, 2025, in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, targeted the entertainment production company responsible for popular 360-degree dome visual music events across North America. Plaintiffs alleged that Moodswings failed to clearly and timely disclose added online service charges when customers selected and purchased tickets through its dedicated event websites.

According to court documents, when consumers attempted to purchase tickets for shows such as Mesmerica or Beautifica, the advertised baseline ticket price did not reflect mandatory service fees added later during the checkout process. Plaintiffs argued that this practice improperly inflated the final transaction cost after customers had already invested time selecting their showtimes and seat tiers.

Moodswings denies all allegations of wrongdoing, false advertising, or legal liability, and no court has found the company acted unlawfully. However, following judicial negotiations, Moodswings agreed to enter a court-approved settlement agreement to conclude the litigation and eliminate the expense and uncertainty of an extended court trial.

Which States and Dates Are Covered Under the Moodswings Settlement?

The court granted preliminary approval to the settlement agreement on June 17, 2026. To qualify as a settlement class member, you must have purchased online tickets to a Moodswings production—including Mesmerica, Beautifica, Astronomica, or Mesmerica XL—through authorized ticketing portals like Tickets.Mesmerica.com, Tickets.Beautifica.show, or Tickets.ChangeWorlds.org within specific state-level timeframes.

The settlement class includes consumers who bought tickets in any of the following six states during these eligibility periods:

  • New York: August 29, 2022 to June 20, 2025

  • Connecticut: October 1, 2023 to August 31, 2025

  • Tennessee: July 1, 2023 to August 26, 2025

  • California: July 1, 2024 to June 20, 2025

  • Maryland: July 1, 2024 to June 20, 2025

  • Colorado: August 7, 2024 to August 31, 2025

If you purchased one or more event tickets online in any of these states during the designated date windows, you are recognized as a class member and have specific rights regarding cash recovery or ticket discounts.

What Payout Options and Benefits Can Class Members Receive?

The settlement structure provides two distinct avenues of relief for everyday consumers: automatic discount codes or direct cash refunds on a per-ticket basis.

1. Per-Ticket Cash Refund Payments

Class members who choose to file a valid claim form before the court deadline can receive direct cash payments calculated based on the state in which they purchased their tickets and the estimated average undisclosed fees charged in that jurisdiction:

State of Purchase Cash Payment Per Ticket
New York $7.12 per ticket
Maryland $3.48 per ticket
California $3.37 per ticket
Connecticut $2.65 per ticket
Colorado $2.54 per ticket
Tennessee Pro-rata cash share per ticket

2. Automatic 25% Future Ticket Discount Codes

Class members who choose not to submit a cash claim form will automatically receive a single-use discount code for a 25% discount on a future purchase of tickets to any Moodswings show nationwide.

Discount codes can be applied toward up to four tickets in a single checkout transaction (or the total number of tickets previously purchased during the class period, whichever is greater). These promo codes are fully stackable, freely transferable to family or friends, and do not expire immediately.

State Legal Protections Against Hidden Ticketing “Drip Pricing”

In recent years, federal and state regulators have placed heightened scrutiny on “drip pricing”—a practice where commercial sellers display a low baseline cost upfront but incrementally add mandatory service, processing, or venue fees as buyers navigate through the checkout screens.

Several state legislatures, including New York and California, have passed strict consumer transparency laws requiring ticket sellers to disclose the total all-in price, including all mandatory fees, prior to a customer selecting tickets for purchase.

When entertainment vendors fail to display full ticket costs upfront, everyday people are deprived of the ability to make clear, informed purchasing decisions. Class action lawsuits serve as a vital mechanism to hold companies accountable, enforce fair pricing standards, and ensure consumers receive financial compensation when statutory pricing rules are ignored.

How to Submit Your Cash Claim Before the September Deadline

If you prefer to receive direct cash payments instead of a future ticket discount code, you must complete and submit a valid claim form before the strict cutoff date.

Follow these steps to file your claim:

  1. Locate the official settlement notice sent to the email address you used when purchasing your event tickets to retrieve your Class Member ID.

  2. Go to the court-sanctioned settlement website at MoodswingsTicketingSettlement.com.

  3. Complete the online claim form using your Class Member ID and select your preferred electronic payment method (such as direct deposit or PayPal) or request a mailed paper check.

  4. Alternatively, download a PDF claim form from the portal, print it, and mail it to the designated settlement administrator.

  5. Ensure your completed online claim form is submitted or your paper claim is postmarked by September 18, 2026.

The court will hold a final approval hearing on December 17, 2026, to review the settlement terms. Cash payouts will be processed and distributed to eligible claimants only after the court issues final approval and any potential legal appeals are reso
